Dear Parents:
Welcome to St. John School. We are delighted that you have chosen St. John as the Catholic School for your child/children. St. John was the first Catholic School in Orange County, founded in the year 1861. We pride ourselves as a school with true Christian values, based on Jesus’ command to love one another, stressing a strong foundation of academic excellence. At St. John School, we encourage a child to work to his/her greatest potential. We teach respect for oneself and others. Our goal is to educate our children to know God, to love God and to serve God. We strive to offer the very best in Catholic Education by developing a well-rounded individual.
We look forward to having your child/children in our school. God’s blessings on you and your family.
Respectfully,
Dustyn Cormier
Principal
Welcome and thank you for your interest in St. John School!
The school, which is one of nine schools administered by the Catholic School Region of Ulster, Sullivan, and Orange Counties, continues to enjoy a strong bond with the parish.
St. John the Evangelist Church is the oldest Catholic parish in Orange County; many families in Goshen have worshiped here for generations. In addition to the normal activities that comprise the life of any parish, St. John's offers pastoral care to the residents of five nursing facilities and the Orange County Jail; the parish priests also celebrate Mass on a regular basis at John S. Burke Catholic High School.
The most important mission of St. John School is the one Jesus entrusted to the entire Church: to go out and make disciples of all nations. At St. John, the gospel is preached throughout the day, just as much in action as it is in words. This is a place where Christ is freely spoken of, where the graces poured out upon us in the Eucharist are experienced in abundance, where Christ's infinite love for us is the most important lesson we teach our children.
If your search is not just for a school, but a spiritual home, we invite you to worship with us at Sunday Mass. The complete schedule of services, as well as information about all the parish has to offer, is available online at sjegoshen.org.
Faithfully,
