Grades K - 6

Spanish class meets for 50 minutes each week.  Students learn a variety of vocabulary, including expressions and other useful phrases.  Curriculum is based on the Let's Learn Spanish series from Hayes School Publishing.  Curriculum is further enhanced through songs, books and videos in Spanish to support the topics/vocabulary being studied.

Grades 7 & 8

Grades 7 & 8 study the high-school level Spanish Level 1 curriculum, completing half of the course in 7th grade and final half in the 8th grade.  Spanish classes for the 7th & 8th grades meet twice per week for 60 minutes per class.

• During Grade 7, we will study Chapters 1-6, of Spanish Level 1.

• During Grade 8, we will cover Chapters 7-12 of Spanish Level 1. Students will take the Spanish Proficiency test in June, or other proficiency test required by their chosen high school. Students who achieve satisfactory scores on the(se) exam(s) are able to place into Spanish Level 2 in high school.

Supply List for Grades 7 & 8: one composition notebook, a 2-pocket folder, and a Spanish-English dictionary (to be kept at home).
